James was born on August 23, 1919 and passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

James was a resident of North Augusta, South Carolina at the time of his passing.

He graduated from North Augusta High School.

He served with the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army in Northern Italy during World War II.

He was married to Myrtle.

The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Friday morning at 11 oclock from Belvedere First Baptist Church by his grandson the Reverend Dr. Stephen Cook of Memphis Tennessee. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. The Interment with Veteran Honors will be private in Pineview Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Piano vs. Poverty a charity to encourage people to use their talentsto help those in need that was founded by Mr. Carters grandson Carter Cook at 1959 N. Peace Haven Road 198 Winston-Salem NC 27106.
