James Carrol "JC" Coalson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, after a twelve-year battle with dementia. He was surrounded by his family and the legacy of a life well-lived.
He was born on August 22, 1938 in Hamilton, TX to James "Jim" and Ramona Coalson. JC earned both a Bachelor and Masters of Education from North Texas State University. While attending South Oak Cliff High School, he was fortunate enough to meet the love of his life, Virginia Jordan. The two were married after they graduated from NTSU. The couple would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on June 17.
JC worked at Dallas Independent School District as a teacher and principal for many years before becoming a textbook salesman for Houghton Mifflin Publishing. In addition to a rewarding career, JC enjoyed the Oak Cliff Lions Club, Golfing, Singing, Guitar and dutifully caring for his family. He attended White Rock United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Coalson; son, Jerry Coalson of Dallas, TX; sister, Billie Francis and her husband (Bill) Northcut of Abernathy, TX. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and one son, Ronald Coalson.
Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2017 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, with A Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm at Grove Hill Funeral Home.
