James Darrell Reaves (Jim) was born on October 8, 1940 to Earl and Annie Viola Reaves in Houston, TX and passed away on November 3, 2017. He is preceded in death by his love of more than 50 years, Alice Reaves, his father Earl Reaves and mother Annie Viola Reaves. Jim grew up in the Heights where he graduated from Reagan High School. He joined the US Navy where he served on the USS Volador. He then went on to receive his Associates Degree at South Texas Junior College and his Bachelors Degree from the University of Houston.

Jim worked at Cameron and Gulf, but most knew him as the "Trooper" at the Texas Department of Public Safety. He served over 30 years ending his career as a Sergeant in Motor Vehicle Inspection. Jim was an Eagle Scout, and a Master Mason for over 50 years. He was part of the Forrester's and enjoyed square dancing and camping in his younger years. In his later years he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children Kathy Herrera and husband George, Elizabeth Villareal and husband J P, Diane Molina and husband Robert, James Reaves and wife Jo; grandchildren Matthew Reaves, Austin Lyles, Cary Lyles, Tyler Reaves, Lauren Herrera, Cameron Herrera, Natalie Villareal, Megan Villareal, and Bailey Young; brother Daniel Reaves and wife Kathryn.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 5-8 PM at Heights Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 1 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
