James “Jim” David Starling Fergusson passed away peacefully following a long illness on October 20, 2017. Born December 20, 1939, he was predeceased by his parents David Henry and Mary Lenore “Pet” Fergusson. Jim is survived by his devoted wife Mary Elizabeth “Ribby” d’Aquin Fergusson, his daughters Mary Elizabeth Fergusson and Louise Fergusson Saenz, son-in-law Ruben Saenz II, and three grandchildren: Ruben, Starling and Corinne. Jim attended Baton Rouge High School and Louisiana State University and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and a founding member of both the Caledonian Society of New Orleans and the St. Andrew Society of Louisiana. Jim was a devout Christian, a loyal friend, a loving father, grandfather and uncle and was known to all as an exceptional cook.



Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, La. Visitation will begin at 1:30PM with a service to follow at 3:00PM. Inurnment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
