Mr. James Earl Mickle, 93, of Valdese, passed away on Sunday September 18, 2022, at Cambridge House after a period of declining health.
Mr. Mickle was born August 30, 1929, in Swannanoa, NC a son of the late James Mark and Bertha Smith Mickle. James was raised in Swannanoa and Marion, NC and was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne Collage and attended App State and UNC for graduate classes. He spent his career as a dedicated High School Teacher, inspiring students at Glen Alpine HS, Morganton HS and Freedom HS. James served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member and past president of the Morganton Lions Club and a member of Valdese First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Louise (Charles) Day, Virginia (Lewis) Gibson, Margaret (Ralph) Swartz and Jessie (Charles) Willis.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise Williams Mickle, a son, Mark Mickle of Granite Falls. Also surviving are his grandsons, Sebastian Wheeler and Jeremy Mickle both of Fla. and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for James Mickle will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday September 23, 2022 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating and Military Honors by the Caldwell County Honor Guard and the National Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Friday at Heritage Funeral Service.
