James E. (Jimmy) Hunter 58, lost his battle with cancer at his home in Houston, Texas on November 7th, 2016. Jim was born September 18, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Growing up the fourth of six children to John and Etta Hunter, Jim found his first of many life long friends in his sister Charmaine and his brother John. After a move to the Spring Branch area of Houston, Texas, he met and made life long friends in Greg Guillot and Jerry Gentry.

From an early age Jim was well known for his kind heart, generosity, optimism, laid back attitude, love of the outdoors and thirst for adventure. He was blessed with a strong work ethic, quick wit, and good looks.

No one enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved outdoor activities any more than Jimmy. Weekends and vacations called for visiting the Davey Crockett Horse and Rider Camp in Crockett, spending time on the river or going fishing at Surfside or San Luis Pass.

There was nothing Jim loved more than his family and friends. He was a devoted and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. So many shared happy memories together with Jim. His infectious smile warmed their hearts and his witty humor brightened the day for those around him. He will be missed by all who loved him dearly.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents John Albert and Etta Jean Cypert Hunter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, daughter Meaghann Bradley and husband Chad of Dallas, TX, daughter Molly Davis and husband Matt of Austin, TX, son Zachary O'Dowd and fiance Megan Devetski of Buda, TX, daughter Jamey O'Dowd of Houston, TX, and grandson Peyton Johnson.

A Celebration of Jim's life was held on Saturday, November 12th, 2016, at the home of Danny and Charmaine Mitcham, in Hempstead, Texas.
