James Emerson Colkitt was called home to the Lord on May 8, 2017.

James was born in Big Run, Pennsylvania to Harvey and Mary Colkitt. He was a man of impeccable integrity. He served his family with loyalty, love, kindness and never neglected his duties as a husband, father and grandfather. He was a great cook and enjoyed caring for his family.

After high school James went into the FBI where he met his first wife, Angela Faye Gregory. They were happily married for forty years. They moved to Georgia and he worked for Lockheed Martin for thirty five years. James played baseball with the Cardinals. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball in his community.

James enjoyed building birdhouses for the state of Georgia parks department. He was an excellent woods craftsman. James attended Kennesaw State University for landscaping where he was on the Dean's list.

James donated his time and craftsmanship to help build a youth center at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Acworth, Georgia. He married Gladys Elaine Brown in 2000. They were married for seventeen years. Together they raised five grandchildren.
