Mr. James Clarence "Jack" Cannon, 89, of Granite Falls, passed away on Thursday November 9, 2017 at Caldwell County Hospice, Lenoir, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Cannon was born August 5, 1928 in Caldwell County, a son of the late William P. and Emaline Smith Cannon. He was retired as a molder in the furniture manufacturing industry. Jack was previously employed by Autumn House and Davis Wood Products, enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his family and was considered a jack of all trades.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Sarah M. Cannon, his second wife Mary T. Cannon , son James Lynn "Buddy" Cannon, step-son Eric Cannon, three brothers, Ray, Ralph James "Jim", and Lester "Bud" Cannon and three sisters, Sadie Lail, Verna Beane and Rebecca Sigmon.
Surviving are his son Roy Cannon and wife Rayvonda and granddaughter Brianna , his daughter, Montene West and grandson Jesse Laws and wife Jackie, great-granddaughters, Nikki and Alissa Laws, grandson Bruce Laws and wife Cookie, daughter-in-law Linda Cannon, granddaughter Amanda Keller and husband Jeff, daughter-in-law Cheryl Cannon, granddaughters Erica and Erin Cannon. Also surviving are two brothers, Ivey Cannon and Phillip Cannon both of Granite Falls and three sisters, Anna Duncan of Winston-Salem, Effie Dishman and Edith Lail both of Granite Falls , brother-in-law, Hal Sigmon and a number of nieces and nephews..
Funeral Services for James C. "Jack" Cannon will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday November 13, 2017 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese with Rev. Bobby Harmon officiating Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Monday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.
Pallbearers will be Steve Carpenter, Brian Shoup, Greg Shoup, Dwayne Cannon, Joey Barlow, Bruce Laws, Jesse Laws, Eddie Lail and Floyd Lail,.
Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
