James O. "Jim" Britt, 86 of Markle and Bradenton Beach, Florida passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011 at his residence in Markle. He attended Rock Creek Township School through 10th grade and he graduated from North Webster High School in 1943. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 - 1946. He was a tool & die engineer and was the shop foreman with Yeoman Engineering from 1960 - 1991. He was a lifetime member of the Buckeye Christian Church and most recently attended Markle United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Markle and Bluffton, where he served as Master of the Markle Lodge from 1965 - 1966. He also belonged to the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne. He enjoyed fishing for bluegill in Indiana and snook in Florida.

He was born on April 23, 1925 in Rock Creek Township, Huntington County, the son of Oscar and Anna (Cline) Britt.

He was united in marriage to Betty M. Hand on August 26, 1944 at the Westfield Presbyterian Church in Fort Wayne. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2009.

Survivors include three daughters: Brenda K. Britt of New Haven; Beverly (Greg) Wilson of Markle; Becky (Morgan) Hughes of New Haven; a son: Jack (Judy) Britt of Fort Wayne; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Gerald O. Moreland officiating.

Interment will be at the Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington County.
