JAMES ROY “JR” PHILLIPS, T-SGT, USAF (RET)



JR, 54, of Gladstone, MO. On Thursday April 20, 2017, after winning a courageous battle with leukemia, he passed away due to complications of pneumonia. JR was born on March 7, 1963 to Roy and Ann Phillips at Dyass Air Force Base in Abilene, TX. After graduating from Springtown High School in 1981 he enlisted in the USAF proudly serving as a B-52 mechanic until his retirement in 2001. In 2006 JR had the honor of uniting two families as one when he married the love of his life, Christine Long. For the past 6 years JR enjoyed his time working at Lowes while earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Management and Computer Sciences along the way. JR was a wonderful husband, father, and friend with many passions, hobbies, and quirks about him. He loved his dogs, woodworking, reading, and creating things by hand. He was loved by all and will be missed by many.



JR was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Phillips.



Survivors include his wife, Christine; his father, Roy; his brothers, John and Chuck; his children, James, Jr., Paula, Jacqueline, and Shelby; his grandchildren, Kamyah, Allison, Demitri, and Isaiah; his fur babies, Goldie, Scruffy, Mikey, and Eddie.



Graveside services and Military Honors will be Tuesday April 25, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Good Days Program at (www.mygooddays.org/donate)
