James was born on August 15, 1940 and passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018.

James was a resident of Winston Salem, North Carolina at the time of passing.

A funeral service officiated by family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, burial is to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Surviving are his wife Vickie Atwood of the home, three daughters; Sherri Giordano of Wake Forest, NC ; Dawn Liva, of Winston-Salem, NC; Angie M. Dorton of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Steve Atwood(Brenda), Jeff Atwood(Tammy), Mark Atwood(April) ; Grandchildren, Brock Loynab, Morgan Buckley, Skyler Dorton, Madison Dorton.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memoriam to either the AMVETS National Service Foundation or The Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston-Salem, NC.
