James “Jim” T. Pearson, age 77, of Homosassa, FL passed away at his residence on November 16th, 2017. Jim was born to the late James and Minnie Pearson in Brooklyn, NY. He served our country in the United States Army from 1958-1961, before returning to civilian life as a New York City Police Officer. He also obtained a B.F.A. from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After retiring from the police force, he began a second career in Human Resources for New York City Health and Hospital Corporation and completed his working life as the Associate Executive Director of Human Resources for Kings County Hospital Center. He moved to Homosassa, FL from NY in 2001 where he resided until his passing. Jim’s journey has been unique and he always maintained his golden spirit and soundness of his beliefs. He is described as an extremely generous person who donated to numerous charities, especially Susan G. Komen, and was a living testament to hard work and dedication. Jim was also an advocate for using our minds to the best of our abilities and his favorite mantra was “2 Think.” His hobbies included watching football, collecting pens, watches and gadgets of various types, playing scrabble and cracking a good joke. His love for the modern railroad, whether it be model, live or media delivered was as real as his love for life. His profound love for music of many genres was a significant part of his life, especially jazz, and it inspired those around him to develop a love and appreciation for music as well. He will be missed beyond measure but will be remembered even more so for being an outstanding father, grandfather and individual. Jim is preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Pearson. Survivors include his son, Mark Pearson; grandsons, Mark Pearson II and Myles Pearson; sister-in-law, Sharon Fenty; partner in life, Gloria Ranghelli; and her sons, Michael and Joseph. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends and loved ones. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday, November 29th, from 12-2 P.M. at Turner Funeral Home in Spring Hill, FL. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. before he is laid to rest at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens in Spring Hill, FL.
