James Zozzaro, 96. of Emerson, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2018. He was greeted in heaven by his wife of 70 years, Antoinette. Loving father of John L. Zozzaro and his wife Lucy; James Zozzaro, Jr. and his wife Madeline; Lawrence Zozzaro and his wife Rhea; Allan Zozzaro and his wife Sharon. Cherished grandfather to Natalie Zozzaro, James A. Zozzaro and his wife Kristin; Dr. John Zozzaro and his wife Carrie; Andrea Hopkin; Jamie Bagley and her husband Ryan; Nicole Tobin and her husband Sean; Lori Bruno and her husband Mike; Robyn Uderitz and her husband Eric; Amy Tortora and her husband Neil, Dr. Michael Zozzaro and his wife Maggie; Ashley Zozzaro and Stephen Zozzaro. Beloved great grandfather of Jacob, Joshua, Josiah, Daniel, Emma, Michael, John, Vincent, Joseph, Jack, Grace, Ryder, Jimmy, Tommy, Emily, Allie, Haley, Nathan, Matthew, Luke, Dylan, Olivia, Avery and Emory. Dear brother to Mary Tucci and Jean Andriulli A veteran of WWII, having served as a Sergeant in the 63rd Infantry, he saw action in France, Germany and Italy, and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. He was a member of VFW Post 5084 and American Legion Post 147 in Elmwood Park, NJ. He was also a Charter Member of the Elks Club of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. He was the founder of Zozzaro Brothers Inc., and along with his four sons established one of the first state of the art Recycling facilities in New Jersey, employing over 100 people. He was also one of the founders of The NJ Paper Recycling Association. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, 300 Elm Street, Oradell, N.J. Entombment following at Garden of Memories, Township of Washington, N.J. The family will receive friends and loved ones at the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, 559 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, N.J. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2PM to 6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, would be appreciated.
