Jan DeBoer, 69, of Meridian, Idaho passed away on Saturday December 24, 2016 at his family home.
Jan was born March 14, 1947 in Amsterdam, Holland the fourth son of Douwe and Margaret DeBoer. In 1959 the DeBoer family immigrated from Holland to the USA. The entire family departed from Rotterdam, Holland on Sept. 22, 1959 on the ship "Zuiderkruis" where the family spent 7 days and nights, most of them very sick, bound for New York City. From there they spent another 3 days and nights on a train until they arrived in Weiser, Idaho on Oct. 4th, 1959. They were met by the congregation of the Congretional Church of Council which sponsored their family and had a home ready for them in Council, Idaho.
Jan married Cindy Celeya in 1965 and together they had 3 children; Michael, Margaret and Paul. They were later divorced in 1973.
Jan then married Nancy Eason in 1978 and together they had a son; Brian. They were later divorced in 1993.
Jan then met and married the love of his life, Rosmarie Kingston, on May 1st, 1998 and together they brought together all their children which totaled 7 sons and 3 daughters. Jan and Rosmarie made their home in Meridian, ID where they still lived now.
Jan worked as a dairy farmer for several years followed by working at a sawmill in Darrington, WA and finally worked as a meat cutter for over 20 years for Armour's Meats in Nampa, ID.
Jan loved the outdoors and loved to go fishing with his sons every chance he got. Jan looked forward to going hunting every year with his son's, grandchildren, his brother Henry DeBoer and his nephew Johnny DeBoer at Meat Mountain in Indian Valley near Council, Idaho. He loved boxing and would often stay up until 3 am to watch a good boxing match. He also loved attending the car races every weekend in the summer with his Brother-In -Law Rocky Heath. But most of all, Jan loved spending time at his farm with his wife Rosmarie and taking care of all his animals and working on the garden. Jan was an incredible man and was loved by so many and he will be missed but never forgotten.
Jan was proceeded in death by his parents, Douwe and Margaret DeBoer, his brother Herbert (Herbie) DeBoer, son Doug Weide and his daughter Kathryn Alseth who just recently passed away earlier this year.
He is survived by his wife Rosmarie DeBoer, his sons Michael (Becky) DeBoer, Paul (Kristin) DeBoer, Brian DeBoer, Pete (Michelle) Kingston, Ivan (Kassie) Kingston and Scott Gardner. His daughters Margaret (Paul) Baxter and Danielle Cutler. He was also survived by his brothers Douwe (Ellie) DeBoer, Henry (Anita) DeBoer, Joe (Linda) DeBoer, Dirk (Susan) DeBoer, Corry (Tina) DeBoer and his sisters Margie (Don) Kile, Johanna (Bob) Donahue and Susan (Rocky) Heath. Jan was also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews and there are just too many to list but he loved them all.
In leau of flowers contributions to help the family with funeral expenses can be made in Jan's honor at any location of Umpqua Bank under his wife's name Rosmarie DeBoer. Inurnment will be at the Cloverdale Funeral Home's walking path along side a beautiful creek later in the Spring.
