Jane Bland Morrison - born on March 9th, 1929 and went to Christ on July 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her Husband of 65 years, Gray DeGraffenried Morrison, II and by her parents, the late Dr. Millard L. and Clifford K. Bland, and her sister, Dorothy Bland Minshall. She is survived by her three sons, Gray d III, Bryant Boatner (Rebecca), Millard Bland (Helen), and her daughter Jane Morrison Jobe (David), and 8 grandchildren: Jessica and Gray Morrison, Brittany and Bryant Morrison, Millard and Bailey Morrison, and Mary Clifford and Whitney Jobe. She graduated from McGehee School in New Orleans and attended Newcomb College where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married Gray in 1949 and began her family. She was a Member of the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church and the Junior League of New Orleans. Jane loved spending time gardening, fishing and enjoying nature at the Lookout Mountain Camp for Boys in Mentone, Alabama, where she passed. She was an avid golfer and took pleasure in spending time on the course with her friends. She won several championships and her golf adventures included a hole-in-one at the New Orleans Country Club. Jane openly loved Mardi Gras and enjoyed the festivities well into her eighties. As a staunch lover of animals, she also volunteered work for the “Zoo-To-Do” during its formation and was in charge of Decorations for its first event held in 1972…anything she could do “to help replace those awful cages.” She was also actively involved with raising funds for the Cabildo. Although she loved her trout meuniere, Jane was equally happy with her favorite,…a grilled cheeseburger. She loved spending time on top of the mountain in Mentone, AL, and would help plant the gardens during the summer camp season. Jane’s devotion to her family rose above everything else…she loved her family deeply and her smile, charm and never-ending love will be missed by all. She will be remembered by her family for her loving heart and by her many friends for her fierce loyalty. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 7th at the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and services will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. To view and sign the family guestbook, please visit www.lakelawnmetarie.com.
