Jason Dean Gwinn
July 2, 1970 ~ February 26, 2017
Jason (Jay) Dean Gwinn was born July 2, 1970, in Yakima Washington, to Ariel Tonee (Hansen) Gwinn and Dean Lyle Gwinn. When he was just three years old, the Gwinn family moved to Spokane Washington, where Jay lived for most of his life. except for his last year while he was transitioning from the state of Washington to the Phoenix area in Arizona. Jay graduated from Mead High School, Spokane WA, in 1988. Throughout the following years, he worked in occupations including electronics in retail stores, car/truck sales, out-of-town delivery driver for Mercedes-Benz dealership, and as servers in restaurants. In 1998, he married Michelle Roberts, also of Spokane. In addition to her daughter, Miranda, he also became the proud "Daddio" of their own daughter, Emily Michelle Gwinn, who was born March 1, 2000. He often referred to Emily as the bright "Light of My Life." Having a unique, gentle way with children, fatherhood simply came very natural for Jason, and he was a loving, supportive Dad.
Jason attended ITT Technical Institute in Spokane WA, studying computer technology, where he graduated with a Information Systems degree. He once built his own computer entirely from scratch. After forming his own business, he trained people and repaired their personal computer issues, in time becoming everyone's "Favorite Computer Guru." He also had keen interests in science, space/astrology, archaeology, spirituality, other-worldly entities, computer forensics, an avid sports' fan . and he was musically gifted, playing guitar and having had extensive music collections. Jay jokingly referred to himself as being somewhat OCD. a neat-nik and perfectionist. He also had a keen sensitivity and compassionate soft heart for the unfortunate. Genuinely loving animals, he gave his home/care to several furry pets in his life ~ many dogs and cats too numerous to mention. He also loved taking tender care of living plants ~ each being given a designated (usually humorous) name, excitedly looking for new growth and watching their daily growth.
Later in his life, Jay developed an avid "artistic" ability, sketching mostly with pencil. He was eagerly looking forward to expanding this creative talent into learning and using other art mediums, as well. He greatly loved and appreciated his family and many friends. People genuinely gravitated to and loved Jason's positive, cheery nature. Known to strike up conversations with complete strangers, he would often became missing-in-action in stores or various places, to be found later engrossed in chatting and laughing with new acquaintances. He was greatly admired for his easy-going personality and smiles that would literally light up a room. And he always expressed how he loved and was so proud of his beloved daughter, Emily, and his family, especially his older brothers, Karl and Michael, and their beautiful families.
After being admitted to a hospital in Goodyear Arizona for a minor routine procedure, Jason died of a massive heart attack at 4:57a.m. on February 26, 2017. He was only 46 years old ~ way to soon to depart from our worlds. His kind, loving spirit will always be greatly missed and loved.
