Jean Louise Diener, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 10:00a.m., Monday, April 11, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 4933 S. 7th St., Abilene, TX with burial following in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, April 10, 2016 from 3:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Jean was born on November 30, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John C. Haight and Anne A. Davidson Haight. She married Ronald Diener on November 14, 1953. Jean was a graduate of Deaconess Hospital in Detroit receiving her degree in nursing. After moving to Abilene in 1967 and working for Hendrick Medical Center until she retired in 1997. 53 years of nursing showed her love of the profession. She was active in the American Legion Auxillary where she was chaplain and past president. Jean was also a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church as well as being involved in Our Savior Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Gerald Douglas Haight; and her daughter, Pamela Gaston. Survivors include her husband, Ronald Diener; sons, Bradford and wife, Dianne Diener, Douglas and wife, Debbie; daughter, Judy and husband, Arthur Rocha; grandchildren, Mary, Abbi, Taylor, Brandy, Hannah, Bradford, John, Ryan, and Heather Diener; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
