Mrs. Jean R. Claar, 89, of Charlottesville, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Alexandria, Virginia.



She was born February 2, 1928 in Blair County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Adda Isenberg Mullins and Henry Lewis Isenberg. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Gene Claar; beloved son, Reginald Gene Claar; sister, Ann Ickes; and brother, Theodore Isenberg.



Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Deborah A. Corbin; grandchildren, Stephanie Campbell and Bradley Corbin; great granddaughter and namesake, Emma Jean Campbell, and daughter-in-law, Anne Claar. She will also be sorely missed by her brothers Henry Isenberg and Clarence Isenberg and many nieces and nephews.



Mrs. Claar graduated from Claysburg High School in Pennsylvania in 1946 where she was a majorette. She worked for Centel for many years. As a military spouse of 27 years she took on many different roles at several military bases. Mrs. Claar was also an active member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Charlottesville. Adored by many for her witty sense of humor and her loving heart, she will be missed always but forever be in our hearts.



A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church in Charlottesville. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mrs. Claar’s name be made to Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 3595 Grand Forks Blvd., Charlottesville, VA 22911.
