Jeanine P. Cookinham passed away June 10, 2017 at home in Weatherby Lake surrounded by family.



Jeanine was born September 17, 1940 in East Liverpool, Ohio, the daughter of William and Lena Rea. Following her graduation from East Liverpool High School, she joined her sisters in San Diego, California where she was employed by General Dynamics. Later she returned to East Liverpool where she was employed by Potter Savings and Loan. During a visit to her sister at Fort Riley, Kansas, she met her husband of 52 years, 1Lt John L.Cookinham III. They married one year later prior to his first deployment to Vietnam with the First Infantry Division. She moved frequently during her husband’s various military assignments and met many new friends. After military retirement the couple and their children settled at Weatherby Lake, Missouri where she continued to raise her children and practice her strong belief in God and family.



Her father, mother and older brother Don preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband John, son John (Janet), daughter Jill (Fred) Nesslage, three grandsons, James, Christopher and Nicholas. She is also survived by her two sisters, Marion Rice and Nancy Keith sister-in-law Julie Rea along with various nieces and nephews and her best friend, Dodie Losoysa of San Diego. She was an avid fan of Jayhawk Basketball, the Royals and the Chiefs.



Family will receive friends Thursday June 15th from 5:00-7:00pm at White Chapel Funeral Home. A service will follow at 7:00pm. Interment will be Friday at 9:00am at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
