Jeanne Bagshaw, age 96, of Independence, MO, passed away on January 28, 2017. Visitation at 1PM with funeral at 2PM on Fri., Feb. 3, at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

She was born to Violet and Floyd Sooy Oct. 11, 1920, in Kansas City, MO. Her only brother, Lt. Floyd Sooy, Jr., died from accidental injuries in 1947.

Jeanne graduated from William Chrisman in 1938 and attended Kansas City College of Commerce, graduating as an Executive Secretary. She worked in Kansas City for the next five years until she joined the W.A.V.E.S. She had to have special permission to leave her government job at Immigration and Naturalization Service.

She received her basic training in New York City in 1944 with the hospital corps. For medical training, she spent time in Bethesda Naval Hospital until transferring to the Naval Air Station hospital in Sanford, FL.

In Jan. 1945, she married Joseph Wrigley. A son was born in 1946. Too many difficulties led to a divorce in 1948.

On Oct. 10, 1952, she married Allan Buster Bagshaw. They soon became parents of three more boys and one daughter. They moved to their farm in Louisburg, KS, in 1961 where they lived until returning to Independence in 1966. Jeanne spent many hours volunteering to help the developmentally disabled in honor of her daughter, Jeannette.

Jeanne enjoyed travelling, camping, boating, fishing, billiards, and bowling, as well as computer games. She also liked being with her family.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her children Darryl and Jeannette. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Allan; sons Richard (Jimmie) Wrigley, Don (Brenda) Bagshaw, Douglas (Connie) Bagshaw; daughter-in-law Mitzi Bagshaw; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
