Jeffery Clay Hart, 59, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on his birthday Saturday, November 12, 2016, from injuries received in a tragic accident. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Albans.

He was born November 12, 1957 in Elkins, West Virginia. He was the seventh child of eight born to the late Arnold Wilson Hart and Alice (Chewning) Hart.

He was a 1976 graduate of Elkins High School. He started working at Hardees in 1979 and transferred to the Charleston area soon after. Later he owned and operated a Buck’s Pizza franchise in Nitro for twenty years where he became a mentor and role model to his employees.

Jeff loved his family and life. He enjoyed spending time with his family going gold and gem mining, cheering on WVU, and working in his strawberry patch. He was a loving, generous man with a great sense of humor. He was always giving a helping hand to anyone in need.

Jeffery is survived by his wife Barbara Hart and mother-in-law Betty Jane Cunningham; children, Brandy Hart Carroll and husband Jacob, Ashley Hart and Jason, Owen Keffer, Ashley Vaughan and husband Frank, Sammi Keffer and Jamie; grandchildren Jacob and Hunter Vaughan, Riley Keffer, and Gabriel Nicholson; brothers and sisters, John Hart and Becki, Dorthy Doonan and Glen, Joseph Hart and Kelly, David Hart and Kay, Debra Gainer and Harold, Edward Hart, Steven Hart and Carol; along with many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his beloved dog “Taco Bell”.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Harpold officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Graveside service will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank the Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit of CAMC General.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff’s memory be made to First Baptist Church of St. Albans, West Virginia or the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association.
