Jeffrey (“Jeffro”) Bruce Shorter, 48, of Clearwater, Florida passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, in Clearwater at his home after a brief illness. Jeff was born November 29, 1968 in Silver Springs, Maryland. He spent his childhood in Brandon, FL and Brooksville, FL and graduated from Hernando High School in 1987. After graduation, he attended Georgia Southern University. He then lived in the Tampa Bay area before moving to Clearwater in 1994 once he met Cheri. He spent his career in the culinary industry. About 21 years ago he started working at Ace Catering, then moved to an Outback restaurant in the kitchen working as prep staff and line cook then working his way up to Kitchen Manager. He then worked for himself when he opened his own Italian restaurant for about a year and a half. He later returned to Outback as part of the Bloomin Brands division and landed his dream job as the Kitchen Manager for Bloomin Brands Research & Development division. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed the outdoors. He was always ready and willing to prepare and share some of his finest dishes. Jeff knew no strangers, befriended everyone he met and was willing to help others in need. His hobbies included cooking, of course, entertaining, watching his boys playing sports and Dirt Bike riding. He enjoyed going to the shooting range with his close buddies and his boys. He was also a HUGE Gators fan and raised his boys to know that orange & blue were the best colors in the world! He is survived by his wife, Cheri Shorter and their children Joshua; Ethan (fraternal twins) and Austin all of Clearwater, FL; parents, Bruce and Sandra Shorter of Brooksville, FL; brother, David Shorter (Margaret) of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Suzanne Faulk (Jason) of Brooksville, FL; mother-in-law, Caje Rinker; sister–in-law, Angelina McClellan; and all his nieces and nephews and many more family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 3:00 PM at First United Methodist Church in Brooksville, FL with the Rev. Doug Zipperer and Rev. Edd Denton officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Susannah Wesley Hall at the Church.
