Mr. Jerry Elzie Hudson Sr., 71, of Lenoir passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Jerry was born July 21, 1949, in Burke County to the late Rev. Horace Hudson and Viola H. Hudson. Jerry was a member of Hildebrand View Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and loved his church dearly. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he loved being outdoors and hunting deer, cooking for his family and spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Wanda Moyers Hudson; and siblings, Bland Hudson and Carrie Carswell.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Watson Hudson; son, Jerry Hudson Jr.; daughter, Jenny Smith and husband Josh; step-son, Christopher Huffstetler; grandchildren, Cortnee Hudson and fiancée Hunter Mise, Marshall Smith, Scarlett Smith,; step-grandchildren, Cory Huffstetler and wife Danielle, Brooke Huffstetler, and Tyler Huffstetler; and great-grandchildren, Carson Huffstetler and Emma Hart. Also surviving are brothers, Bob Hudson and wife Marilyn, and Lyndon Hudson; sisters, Ruth Reynolds and husband Richard, Peggy Lail, and Penny Hudson; sister-in-law, Benita Watson and wife Jennifer; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Hildebrand View Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Nantz officiating. Interment will following in the church cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the North Carolina National Guard and the Caldwell County Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the church.
