Jessiel Ethel Skidmore was born March 24, 1917 in Batesville, Arkansas to Jesse and Ethel Mayo. She passed away February 26, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.

Jessiel will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. If you ever needed help, she would pitch in to help any way she could. She especially loved doing things for her two grandkids. From babysitting and picking them up from school, to camping and other adventures, she spent time with them any way she could. She always said biggest joys were taking Amber to Sonic after school so Amber could get her cheese sticks and cheddar peppers, and going to Erich's Pee-wee Football games.

She was a dedicated member of the S-Mile Ladies' Circle at St. John's United Methodist Church for over 50 years. During WWII, she worked at North American Air Craft plant in Grand Prairie, and later she was a department manager at JC Penney, at the East Grand location. Some of her favorite times were spent camping with family and friends. She and her husband, Maurice, were members of the El Dorado Camping Club and the Winnebago Big D Winnes. They bought their first pick-up camper from her brother, Libby Mayo, and their campers continued to increase in size up to a 36ft Winnebago motorhome that they traveled in all over the United States.

Jessiel was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married December 25, 1944, Maurice Wesley Skidmore; and brothers, Jesse William Mayo and wife Willie, Lilburn Mayo and wife, Peggy, and John Mayo and wife Elaine Mayo Lee.

She is survived by her sons, James Skidmore, and Kenneth Skidmore and wife Sheri; grandchildren, Amber Lanphere and husband Tim, and Erich Skidmore; great-grandchildren, Paisley Lanphere and Kenneth Dale Lanphere; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M., and will be followed by Funeral Services at 2:00 P.M., all at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
