Mrs. Jewelene Rodgers was born January 20, 1930 to the parentage of Jerry Goode and Nomie Mallory in Magnolia, Arkansas. She loved the Lord, having confessed Christ very early in her life. She was a giving person who was always willing to help others.



Mrs. Rodgers ministry included working in the nursery, mission boards, and singing in various church choirs. She was a devoted member of singing in the city-wide Federation of Choirs in the city of Dallas.



Her employment included Margie’s ladies dress store, K-Mart, Neiman Marcus and Walmart where she retired after 14 years.



Mrs. Rodgers loved taking care of her flowers and enjoyed sports. During NFL football season, you could find her glued to her television on Sundays Mondays and Thursday nights. After football season, you could find her watching NBA basketball. She religiously read the newspaper daily to keep up with current events as well as working sudoku and crossword puzzles to stimulate her mind until the time of her Homegoing.



Mrs. Rodgers is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Lee Rodgers Sr., mother-in-law Roberta Bruce, daughter Ruby Jewel Barnes, brothers, Billy Don Mallory Sr., Hebrew Mallory, Rayda Mallory Sr., John D. Mallory Sr., Curtis McCray, Gladis Mallory, Forest McCray, Memphis Mallory, sisters, Beatrice Mallory, Velma Marie Harper, Melvalene Mallory Easter, and granddaughter Campbell Rodgers, and son-in-law Bryant Matherson, Sr.



Mrs. Jewelene Rodgers was truly blessed to live 87 years and departed life on June 25, 2017. She leaves to cherish her legacy and her memory: Five children: Arthur Rodgers (Jackie); Barbara Williams; Norma Shaw (Leo); Carolyn Matherson, and Carl Rodgers. Three sisters, Emma Jean Mallory, Arnita Mallory, Margie Sanders, 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives, friends and loved ones.
