Mr. Jimmie Wayne Nolan, 80, recently of Newton, passed away to 2:45 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Abernathy Laurels Nursing Home where he was a resident for four years.

Mr. Nolan was born in Waterloo, Alabama on March 3, 1940 to the late John L. Nolan, and Mary Jane Nolan. He and his late wife, Karen Sue Nolan, got married on July 21, 1962 and they were happily married for fifty six years until her passing in 2018. Jimmie served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He retired from AT&T in Indiana where he worked as a lineman. He also worked as a valet at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, Indiana for ten years. His number one hobby was bowling. He bowled several 300 games. He was also an avid sports fan. He was a Notre Dame Football and basketball fan, having only lived several miles from the university. Jimmie was of the Baptist Faith, and he and his wife were known to be animal lovers.

Surviving Mr. Nolan include his sister, Wanda F. Bonamarte of Valdese; niece, Amy J. Crowder, and husband Greg of Valdese; nephew Robert F. Bonamarte and wife Tiffany of Oak Ridge, TN; and three grand nephews, Jonathan Robert Bonamarte of Oak Ridge, TN, Brandon Cole Bonamarte of Oak Ridge, TN, and Joshua Paul Crowder of Valdese, NC.

The family would also like to say a special thank you to the staff of Abernathy Laurels for the excellent care Jimmie received most importantly through this last difficult year. Jim looked at the the CNAs, Nurses, and volunteers as friends and family; not just caregivers.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Nolan will be cremated and there will be a private family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your choice of charity, church, or animal organization.
