Jo Leen Moore (nee Alspaugh) died peacefully surrounded by family on August 16, 2017 in the Palliative Care Center at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, MO, at age 90.

Jo Leen was born on November 21, 1926 in Liberty, MO to Russell and Beatrice Alspaugh and graduated from Liberty High School in 1944. She married Robert A. Moore also in 1944. Family was then, as always, first in her life and she and Robert welcomed their first child, Robert F. Moore in 1945. A second son, Dennis Moore, was born in 1948, and their only daughter, Beverly Moore, was born in 1950. This completed the family which grew in an incredibly warm and loving atmosphere that was strongly supported and complimented by large extended families on both the Alspaugh and Moore sides.

Jo Leen worked for a few years in retail but spent the majority of her adult life engaged in her primary love and passion, her family. As a mother she was a remarkable role model demonstrating love, compassion, direction, wisdom, and encouragement. This role continued until her death with her adult children and spouses, and the 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren that followed. She was a truly remarkable woman who was an endearing friend to all she met and would be the first to offer support and assistance to those in need of support. She lost her first and only love, Robert, in 1980. This love was so complete and enduring that she never even considered finding another companion.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sister Catherine Hoff (Boyd/Alspaugh), and her granddaughter Brandie Mann. She is survived by her brother Billy Alspaugh of Mountain Home, AR; her son and his wife Robert and Tanis Moore of Denver, CO; her son and his wife Dennis Moore and Judy Arthur; her daughter and her husband Beverly and Mike Welling; grandchildren Todd Moore and wife Susan, Daniel Moore and wife Sarka, Brennan Moore and wife Rachel, Whitney Moore, and Bonnie Cates and husband Rodney; and great grandchildren Zack, Brooke, and Mandy Moore; Courtney, Sklyar, and Sairee Moore; Mable Moore; and Michael, Nathan, and Jacob Cates.

The funeral service was held at White Chapel on August 18, 2017, officiated by Pastor Donnie Payne. Condolences can be sent to or POB 132, Lawson, MO 64062.

The family would like to thank Dr. Swords and the staff of the Palliative Care Center at Liberty Hospital for their warm care for Jo Leen in her final days.
