Jo Nell English went to walk with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, 29 October 2017, there to reunite with her husband Leon, and daughter Marie. Jo Nell was born on the plains of north Texas, in Vernon, not far from the Red River and Oklahoma border. It was here that she met the love of her life - Leon Kemmeter English.

Leon was playing professional baseball as a member of the minor league Vernon Dusters, of the Texas League. Jo Nell met him in the coffee shop of the local drugstore and before long they married. Jo Nell told him, "Whither thou goest, I will surely follow", but with one caveat - once each year he would promise to bring her and their family back to Vernon, Texas to visit her relatives and to give her own family the knowledge of their Texas roots. In all the years of moving all around this country, this vow was always kept.

Family was a hallmark strength in her and the core of her being shone as a love for her family, and was surpassed only by her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Christian life, well lived, shone as a beacon to those around her, and as such, one by one, her family and husband joined with her in faith. This light could not help but be noticed by all who came in contact with her. She so loved the holidays and took such delight in decorating and setting the Thanksgiving table. And she always had extra spots for others to join in, be it family or friends, or children's friends. A particular delight of hers was to have her family all join around the piano and sing holiday songs or wonderful old, hymns. And so it was that to those who came into and through her life, each one always carried a piece of her away with them and she was always remembered fondly by those she met.

Jo Nell's Christian beacon was not put out by her passing, but is still shining - continued through her children, grandchildren, and by so many of those who knew her.

Jo Nell is preceded in passing by her husband, Leon K. English; her daughter, Marie A. English; parents William Grant Crites and Grace Adele (Jackson) Crites; brother William "Bill" Crites; and sister, Marie A. Thompson.

She is survived by sons, Gregory F. English and wife Linda; Gary K. English, and wife Debbie; Jeffrey L. English, and wife Caron; and William J. English. Grandchildren Rob, Ryan, Aaron, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren Addison, Bentley, and Carlee Marie
