Joann Bolton Forbes, 85, passed peacefully from this earth on December 19, 2017 while in hospice care at Tabitha Journey House after a very lengthy illness. Jo always tackled her physical problems with her trademark humor and grace. She possessed an infectiously bright outlook on life and brought smiles to the faces with all those whom she connected.

Her first marriage was with Don Weller and they brought two children into the world, Stephen Paul and Barbara Jo. She was the coolest Mom on the block, always.

Her second, and nearly perfect marriage, was with Vernon Forbes and from 1973 until her passing; they shared a love that was legendary. Vernon’s three children from his first marriage are Vernon J Forbes, Jr.; Douglas E Forbes of Lincoln, and Leslie C Forbes.

Throughout her life, Jo was committed not only to her family, but to her community. She served as President of the Mrs. Jaycees, was named Outstanding Mrs. Jaycee of the State of Nebraska, President of the Lincoln Symphony Guild, she was active with Sewers Club, Sigma Alpha Iota, Thursday Morning Lecture Club, and LHS Chicks to name but a few. Professionally, she was a page at the Nebraska Unicameral, executive assistant to Senator Ron Cope of Kearney, Executive Assistant to Thomas R Pansing, and owner operator of her dream shop, The Purse Review. Later in life she enjoyed writing children’s stories for the Texas Grandkids.

Preceding her in death were her adopted parents, Paul and Gladys Bolton, and her beloved birth mother, Ellen Welch of Enterprise, Kansas and countless Aunts and Uncles. She is survived by her loving husband Vernon Forbes, sister Bonnie Crump (Gary) Chapman, Kansas, son Stephen Weller (Lola) Kingwood, Texas; daughter Barbara Weller of Lincoln, Vernon’s children Vernon Jr. of Columbia, Missouri, Douglas of Lincoln, and Leslie of San Antonio, Texas; Grandchildren Brent (Humble, TX) and Brandon Beach (Kingwood, TX), and Casey Hogan (Los Angeles, CA), and four great-grandchildren. Jo leaves behind many cousins and countless lifelong friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2018 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home at 1:30 pm, reception and door prizes to follow. Memorials to Lincoln Symphony Guild.
