A loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joann Ray age, 77 a resident of the Antelope Valley for 10 years was born on July 27, 1938 in Tyler, Texas. She was the daughter of James E. Moore and Mollie M. Moore.



Joann was High School Class of 1957 in which she was named Ms. Carver in 1956 and also in 1957 because she was the most popular girl in school. Her and Earl (youngest brother) represented the district in the mathematics department at Prairie View University and battled 40 other students in which she had alot of fun competing in. Later in her years, she became a lab technician for UCLA Medical Center. She loved to cook, and was always giving to her family.



She cared about the welfare of others and made sure everyone was taken care of. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993 and declared cancer free in 1994. She was a 21 year cancer survivor!



She is Survived by her husband Lawerance M. Ray. Survived by sons Terry M. White from Los Angeles, CA & Gregory F. Ray from Lancaster, CA , and daughter Kaylon M. Blassingame from Lancaster, CA. Grandchildren LaToya White, Branden White, Nakhia White, Candice Ray, Akira White, Kaylona Dixon, Carl Dixon, Austin Blassingame, and Daniel Blassingame. And also survived by five siblings, Henry E. Moore, James O. Moore, Betty G. Vann, Ira N. Stewart, and Connie D. Williams.



She passed away on September 18, 2015 in Westwood, CA. Her viewing will be taking place at Joshua Mortuary Palmdale 3150 E Palmdale Blvd. Palmdale CA on October 1, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM. Funeral Service will take place at Joshua Mortuary Palmdale 3150 E Palmdale Blvd. Palmdale CA at 11 AM. The Burial will follow to Joshua Memorial Park 808 East Lancaster Blvd Lancaster CA 93535.
