Bistline, Jr., John Aaron: Age 94 of Longwood, Florida passed away November 26, 2017. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was born in Longwood on September 22, 1923. He graduated from Lyman High School, received a BS degree from Rollins College and an MS degree from Cornell University. After graduating from Rollins, he was accepted into the nuclear physics program at the Metallurgical Laboratory at the University of Chicago and ran their nuclear reactor. Drafted into the US Army to serve at the Los Alamos Laboratory, he performed criticality research on the uranium bomb for the Manhattan Project during World War II.

In 1948, he married his wife of 55 years, Mary Woodmancy (predeceased), and lived in Ithaca and Scotia, New York. He had a successful career as a nuclear physicist with General Electric where he designed and verified calculations on naval nuclear reactors until his retirement in 1983. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Schenectady, NY. After his retirement, John and Mary returned to Longwood where they were active in both the Seminole County and Longwood Historical Societies. He was the president of Florida Life Care Residents Association. He was an active member of the Wekiva Presbyterian Church and served on numerous committees at the Village on the Green, both in Longwood.

John is survived by daughters, Carol Richman (Michael) of Norman, OK, Anne Bistline of Fishkill, NY and Maryellen Seaman (David) of Queensbury, NY; four grandchildren, Lindsay, Alexander (Elyse), Brittany and Brandon and one great-grandson, Elijah.

The family will receive family and friends from 10 to 11 AM followed by a memorial service starting at 11 AM on Dec. 9th at the Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home at 90 Weathersfield Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL.
