John A Adams
April 9, 1931 - January 5, 2018

John passed away Friday January 5 at the age of 86 surrounded by his children. John was born April 9, 1931 in Delta Utah to his parents Alexander and Martha Jane Cameron Adams and raised on a farm as the 7th of 8 children. He attended Delta High school, followed by the Branch Agricultural college in Cedar City UT, and ultimately graduated from the Agricultural College in Logan UT with a BS Degree in Accounting. Following his college education, John served as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force where he was instrumental in helping to develop and implement a new accounting system. Upon completion of his military service, John was called to a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served for 2 years in the Northern California mission.

After his mission, John worked in Ogden as a Certified Public Accountant for Haskins and Sells. It was during this time that John met and dated Carolyn Truman from St. George Utah who was living in Salt Lake City at the time. John and Carolyn were married in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity on May 14, 1960 and lived in the Canyon Rim and Holladay areas of Salt Lake where they raised 3 children: Kaye, Steven and Paul.

John's career as a CPA included working as an financial executive for Prudential Federal Savings & Loan for many years and later ran his own practice towards the end of his career. John remained a very active member of the church throughout his life and faithfully served in many callings including that of Bishop and as a Temple ordinance worker. After retirement, John and Carolyn served a full-time mission together for the church in the Oakland CA mission. John tenderly cared for Carolyn in the last years of her life and has been anxiously awaiting their reunion since that time for more than 7 years.

When not busy with work and church, John enjoyed working in his gardens wherever he lived. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John is survived by his youngest sister, Gevene (Mike) Steed, his 3 children Kaye, Steven (Tina) and Paul (Lisa), 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Summit Senior Living and First-Choice Home Health & Hospice for their loving care and service to our Father during his decline and especially over these last few weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday January 10th at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive. A visitation will be held at the same location Tuesday evening 6 to 8pm, and one hour prior to the funeral service.
