Mr. John Caldwell Lowdermilk, 91, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at Grace Hospital, Morganton after a period of declining health.
Mr. Lowdermilk was born December 9, 1929 in Burke County, a son of the late John Caldwell Lowdermilk and Marietta Baird Lowdermilk. He was a member of Valdese First Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 234 and was an avid baseball fan, supporting the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox teams. He loved to garden and always had a large one every year, that he shared with family and friends. John served his country, retiring as MSGT, with over 27 years of service as a member of the US. Air Force.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Leona, William "Bill", Ruby, Ora Lee, Jacksie, Zeb, Sarah Jane, Sylvia and Steven.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Pons Lowdermilk of the home, son, John Henry Lowdermilk of Valdese, two daughters, Teresa Cline and husband Rickie of Drexel and Pamula Lowdemilk of Hickory. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Shaun Cline and wife Lauren, John Wesley Lowdermik and wife Kayla, great-grandchildren, Monroe Cline,Palmer Cline, Dawson Lowdermilk and Aria Lowdermilk.
A Graveside Service, with Military Honors by the US Air Force) for John Caldwell Lowdermilk will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday January 12, 2021 at Burke Memorial Park, with Rev. Dr. Josh Lail officiating. ( Mask and Social Distancing Required)
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valdese First Baptist Church, Carpenters Hand or Backpack Ministries, 500 Faet St., Valdese, NC 28690
