John was born on October 9, 1946 and passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016.

John was a resident of Blackstone, Massachusetts at the time of his passing.

John was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. He received the National Defense Service Medal Vietnamese Service Medal Vietnam Campaign Medal and the M-14 Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

He was married to Therese.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 15th at 2:00PM at CARTIERS FUNERAL HOME 151 So. Main St. Rte 126 Bellingham MA. Visiting hours are from 12:00 to 2:00PM prior to service.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of John D. Sawyer to: New England Center for Homeless Veterans 17 Court Street Boston MA 02108 would be appreciated.
