John was born on May 2, 1943 and passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

John was a resident of Indiana at the time of passing.

John was a graduate of Joliet High School and then earned his bachelors of science from North Central College in Naperville, IL.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Helen Shiffer; children, Ryan (Marci Louks) Shiffer and Angela (John) Ngigi; grandchildren, Pauline, Rebecca and Maria and dear cousin, JoAnn (Terry) Leonard Visitation for John will be from 4 - 7 pm on Friday, June 16th at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel. Additional visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 17th at East 91st Street Christian Church (6049 E 91st St, Indianapolis, IN 46250), and conclude at time of services at 11:00 am. Interment follows at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions are suggested in John's name to East 91st Street Christian Church.
