Uncasville-John Edward Chapman (Chappy), age 59 years, of Uncasville, passed away on Tuesday March 6, 2018 surrounded by family and friends John was born in New London, Connecticut, on September 23, 1958, son of the late Percy Dudley and the late Anne Marie (O'Connor) Chapman. John was a tribal member of Mohegan tribe. John also worked as an Electrical Supervisor and manager for 20 years at Mohegan Sun and retired in 2017. He was also employed for 19 years as an Electrician at Electric Boat. He is survived by a sister, Grace Anne Chapman & Bill of New London, and three brothers, Frank Chapman & Christie of North Stonington, Dudley & Jan Chapman of Medina OH and Bruce & Linda Chapman of Oakdale. Also survived by his nephews and nieces Matt Chapman, Cody Chapman, Kristen Smith, Lindsay Bollenbach, Norah Chapman, Alexandra Woodhall, Stephen Chapman, Ian Chapman & Ben Chapman. And so many Faithful friends. But have to recognize the few that were dear to his heart. Norman Tonucci, Ron McDaniel, Richard Dole, Mark (Fingers), Mary and Kelsey, David, Kolt MacCracken. Chappy Served on the Board of Directors for 10 years at Native Sons Ltd. He was also a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local NO 261 and in 1990 received the Life Saving Award. A graduate of Waterford High School, class of 1976. Chappy excelled in any sport he put his mind to. He received the Football Player of the Year Award @ Waterford High School. Went All State his senior year scoring 6 touchdowns in one game and received channel 8’s player of the week. Went on to get inducted to high school All Americans for his achievements in football. Also playing Waterford baseball being all ECC and playing on the State Championship team in 1976. Favorite saying “ No High Five, Go High 4”. Chappy also served on Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, Loved to go fishing and feeding the wild life. Chappy was always the life of the party. He loved to dance and make you smile. Loved music his favorite band was Godsmack. He was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Giants. He loved his dog Percy more than anything in this world which had passed away a few years ago. He enjoyed every moment and lived life to the fullest on his terms. #33 Pro Right 28 Sweep - Give it to CHAPPY LET HIM RUN!! Shantok, Uncasville A celebration of life will be held @ Polish Club, 85 Maple Ave, Uncasville following burial services Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, Mar 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home - New London 12 Ocean Ave., New London. Donations in his memory may be made in his name John E. Chapman (Chappy) Memorial Scholarship.
