John Edward Page, Jr. passed away on Monday, 14 August, 2017. John was born 16 February, 1961 in Orange County, NC, and grew up in Hillsborough, NC. He graduated from Orange High School in 1979. John then joined the US Navy in 1981 and served abroad on the USS INCHON, new Beirut, Lebanon. As a Radio Seaman in Lebanon, he communicated with the elite Seal Team Six. He also served at Naval Air Station, Personnel Support Detachment in Brunswick, Maine until his honorable discharge in 1985. He was decorated multiple times, earning the Navy Unit Commendation and Navy Expeditionary medals, and Sea Service medal with bronze star. He was formerly a resident of Virginia, and spent his last 8 years in the Raleigh, NC area.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean Burnett, in 1966. He is survived by his father, John Edward Page, Sr. and stepmother, Prabha Ramakrishnan both of Raleigh; a sister, Elizabeth M. Page and her husband, Richard Yancey of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his two children, John Ervin Page of Marion, VA and Amber Lee Page of Dayton, OH.

John worked for BJ's Wholesale for the last 7 years and was known by his easy going, reliable demeanor and wry sense of humor. He was blessed with an amazing recall of trivia. He loved collecting comic books, watching the old classic TV shows, especially Perry Mason, and he took great pleasure in the small comforts of life, like Code Red Mountain Dew, porch-sitting and tuna casserole. He was a reliable, hardworking, unique and honest friend. He especially enjoyed vacations at the beach and road trips. John loved science fiction and thrillers, and the Marvel and DC universes. He enjoyed good conversation and good food. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, as well as a UNC Tar Heels fan, and could often recite at will various facts, statistics and events in sports, or other areas of pop culture. He particularly loved classic rock and roll music, and enjoyed conversations about both.

A visitation, with military honors will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC on Monday august 28, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations in his memory to the charity for your choice.
