John Edward Schott, 76, of Silverton, Texas, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 5, 2017 in Tulia, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Silverton with G.J. Walton and Dale West officiating. Interment will follow at the Silverton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Moore Rose Visitation Parlor in Silverton. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

John was born in Tulia, Texas to W. E. Schott and Rena (Persons) Schott on September 28, 1940. John grew up in Silverton and attended Silverton High School where he met his best friend and love of his life, Laquetta Chitty. John and Laquetta married September 1, 1962. They celebrated 54 years of life and marriage.
John graduated from WTAM University with a degree in Animal Science. A third generation farmer/rancher, John was blessed to do what he loved and often said it was such an honor to care for "God's country." John and Laquetta raised their family in Silverton. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Silverton for 45 years. He loved his Lord, family, and his church. John freely witnessed to souls in need and was a true friend to many. John served as a SISD school board member and also as president. He loved Briscoe county youth and was active with his children in Briscoe County 4-H.

John was preceded in death by his parents W. E. and Rena Schott; in-laws Pete and Pauline Chitty, one sister, Mary Schott Neff; his son, David Lee Schott; and grandson, Marcus Schott.

John is survived by his wife, Laquetta Schott of Silverton; two sons, John Bryan Schott and wife, Stacy of Silverton, Texas, William Clay Schott and wife Tracy of Canyon, Texas; two brothers, Dave Schott and wife, Cindy of Amarillo, Texas; Bill Schott and wife, Chris of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law Roy Neff of Burleson, Texas; a special cousin, Jane Self and husband Tom Burson of Silverton, Texas; his beloved grandchildren, Jana Nichole Schott of Amarillo, Texas, Tanner John Schott of Silverton, Texas, William Cole Schott of Canyon, Texas, Sarah Cheyann of Canyon, Texas, Katlin Diane Lanners, and husband Chris of Dumas, Texas, Ronnie Len McQueen and wife, Kayla of Wylie, Texas; 5 great grandchildren, Gage, Kase, Christopher Lanners, and Coty and Cole Mcqueen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will miss John.

The family request memorials to the First Baptist Church of Silverton.
