John Francis Crawford, 78, passed away suddenly on the morning of June 14 2017 at his home in Mesa, AZ. John leaves behind a grateful and loving family, adoring wife of 57 years Ann (Nancy) J Crawford (Rejko), sons Jack and Brian, daughter-in-law Sarah (Paterson) and daughters Susan Crawford and Lori Ann Breton, son-in-law Leo Breton. John and Ann shared an active role in the lives of their children and 6 grandchildren, Jarret T Crawford, Ryan D Crawford, Breanne T Crawford-Martin, Erin K Crawford, Marissa G Crawford and Jaden Crawford and 5 great-grandchildren.

Born in Bayonne, NJ on May 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Harry M and Theresa C (Laskowski) Crawford. Longtime residents of Scotch Plains, NJ, John and Ann semi-retired to Arizona in 2000.

John served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was proud to have been a member of the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

John was a graduate of Bayonne High School (NJ) and Rutgers University and worked most recently at the Longbow and Painted Mountain golf clubs after careers in real estate at RealtyOne Group and Burgdorff Realtors and in information technology at Fisher Stevens Inc.

Along with his sisters, Barbara A Jodry and Judy E Phillips, John spent many hours researching and documenting their genealogy on John was an avid golfer who shot his age multiple times, scored two hole-in-ones and was founder of the Scotch Hills Junior Golf Association. John spearheaded the effort that achieved eligibility for middle schoolers to play high school golf in Scotch Plains. A volunteer life skills and golf coach for the First Tee of Phoenix, John made a difference in the lives of numerous area youth.

John will be remembered most for his love of family, work ethic, generosity and volunteerism.

In lieu of flowers, Ann requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the First Tee of Phoenix and Sunshine Acres Children's Home, Mesa.
