John Harlan Yoke, age 84, of Acton, Indiana, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Rosegate Healthcare Center. He was a lifelong resident of Acton, Indiana. The son of Charles A. and Audrae O. (Showalter) Yoke, John was born October 29, 1924 in Acton, Indiana.

John was the owner of Wanamaker Auto Service for 45 years, retiring in 1995. A veteran of WW II, he served in the U.S. Army. John was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Greg Glover will conduct a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 in Southminster Presbyterian Church - 9950 Southeastern Avenue, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to time of services. Burial will follow in Acton Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter, Denise Yoke; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; niece, Lisa Dick; eleven additional nieces and five nephews. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret E. (Newhouse) Yoke and a sister, Rose Marie Swails.
