Mr. John Henry Truesdale was born in South Carolina on January 26, 1938. He was raised in the Carolina hills by his parents, Henry and Litener Truesdale. He had one precious sister, Betty Ruth Truesdale, who passed away when she was four years old. John grew up with a passion for music and since he already possessed a natural talent for singing, he taught himself to play guitar and formed the band, Johnny Diamond and the Rings. His band headed out west to California, where he played regularly and was popular at area venues.
John married, moved to Texas and raised two children there. He enjoyed working on cars with his son, Rocky and he would be remembered for his generous donations of Otasco toys to the area children.
Later in life, John moved back to North Carolina to care for his parents. John resided with his companion, Vivian Erwin, whom he adored and unfortunately he was never the same after she was called to her heavenly home. John has been cared for by his loving Carolina family, Brenda Wellborn, and the staff at Morganton Long Term Care.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Henry Truesdale, Jr., who thought he walked on water.
Survivors include, his daughter, Natasha Simmons who adored him, son-in-law, William Simmons; granddaughter, Lexi Simmons; and son, Thomas Truesdale. He will live forever in the hearts, and through the stories of those who knew and loved him.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Monday, August 19, 2019 in the Chapel at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00AM prior to the service on Monday in the Chapel at Burke Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care at 1721 Enon Rd. Valdese, NC 28690.
