John L Rose, 70, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on August 3, 2017. He was born March 11, 1947 in Manhattan, New York, son of the late Oliver and Margot (LePage) Rose. John attended the University of Louisville on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1970. He began his career with Joseph E. Seagram & Sons where he worked for over 30 years. He was a member of the Kentucky National Guard, an avid golfer, and, after moving to Lawrenceburg, Indiana, became an active member of the Lawrenceburg Lions Club. Always the life of the party, John enjoyed organizing family tournaments and playing games, usually changing the rules to confuse everyone but himself. He was devoted to his family and friends, and cherished his many pets. He is survived by his four children, Michele (Greg) Schwartz of Florence, KY, Allison (Aaron) Bracken of Indianapolis, IN, John Rose of Milwaukee, WI, Michael (Kristi) Rose of Lawrenceburg, IN; three grandchildren, Aiden, Jackson, and Emma; four sisters, Peggy (Joseph) Abrille of Twain Harte, CA, Jeanne Rose of Oakland, CA, Susan Rose Page of Sonora, CA, Mary (Brad) Burke of Virginia Beach, VA; Aunt Therese Bono of Stuart, FL; and eight nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Fitch Denney Funeral Home in Greendale, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society.
