Our loving father, John M. Sullivan, 97, of Loveland went to live with our dear Lord on December 27, 2010. He was born in Trail, British Columbia, Canada to Henry and Lucia Sullivan August 15, 1913. He was raised in Idaho. He served in the Citizen's Conservation Corp during the Great Depression. John became a forest ranger in his home state of Idaho after the depression. He was a civilian contractor in Hawaii at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941 and helped rescue many injured sailors. John joined the U.S. Navy in October of 1942 during World War II as a carpenters mate first class on the USS Rutilicus. John married Thelma Imstand on June 14, 1945, in Richmond, CA. They lived in Northern California and raised three children. John was a carpenter for most of his life and worked on the Hoover Dam and the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. He also owned a Western Auto Store in Campbell, CA. After moving to Colorado, he worked on the YMCA dorms in Estes Park and managed the Highlander Motel. When John retired, he lived many years in a beautiful home with Thelma on the Big Thompson River. He will be remembered for his strong Faith and positive outlook on life. He is survived by his loving son, Jack Sullivan (wife Sharon), of Campbell, CA; daughters, Jill Worsham of Dundee, FL, and Starr (husband Larry) Parke, of Fort Collins; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial Services are 2 pm Friday at Good Samaritan Society~Loveland Village Spiritual Life Center, 2101 S. Garfield Ave., Loveland. Memorial contributions can be made to Zion Lutheran Church and/or Good Samaritan Society~Loveland Village in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S Hwy 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525.
