John was born on August 17, 1926 and passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018.

John was a resident of Rexburg, Idaho at the time of passing.

Unbeknownst to him during the battle, his brother Frank was also on the island but with the Sixth Marines.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17th at Flamm Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery with military rites.
