John Anthony Venere, passed away on July 15, 2017 at the age of 87.



He was a 49 year resident of St. Petersburg. John was born on November 7, 1929 in Bronx, New York, to parents Anthony and Anna Venere.



He had one Sister, Dolores Vallelonga (deceased) and one brother, Louis Venere. He attended Samuel Gompers High School, and spent four years in the United States Navy.



He married Frances Gambino on February 12, 1955.



John hit home runs in the Polo Grounds, but put his professional baseball career to the side to serve his country in Korea. He was a career Eastern Airlines man. In 1968 he packed up his family to move to Florida. He was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a proud Italian-American, and a Bronx man through and through. He was a loving husband to his wife Frances, and wonderful Father to his two daughters.



John is survived by his two daughters, Annamaria Carnahan and Teresa Fowler; his brother, Louis Venere and four grandchildren.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1800 12th Street North, St. Petersburg on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Funeral Mass following at 11:00 am.
