John W. Robinson passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2017 at his residence at River Landing at Sandy Ridge, Colfax, NC. He was born August 29, 1933 in Kannapolis, NC to the late John and Della Robinson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jean Canup Robinson and his brother, Neil Robinson.

He is also survived by his sister, Frances Clayton, of Kannapolis, NC, three grandchildren, Jonathan Braswell (Jenna), Amanda Wilson (Elliott), and Zachary Braswell as well as great grandson, Everett Wilson and great granddaughter, Iris Leigh Braswell and three nieces and two nephews.

After his discharge from the Army in Korea, John joined Peggy to live in Greensboro in 1956 where he went to work for Carolina Steel Corporation as an inventory clerk. In 1971, he was elected Vice President over the service center division and subsequently named President and Chief Executive Officer of the company in 1988 and retired from Carolina Steel after 32 years of dedicated service. He also served many years on the Greensboro board of BB&T.

John and Peggy resided at the River Landing at Sandy Ridge retirement community for the last 14 years and the family expresses their sincere gratitude for all of the special people who have made a difference in their lives: the entire team at River Landing who showed tremendous love and care for them and the gentle and responsive staff at Hospice of the Piedmont who made John's last days comfortable and peaceful. The family also extends a special thank you to all of the friends, family, caregivers, and spiritual leaders who have been supportive and caring for John during his last days. He was a faithful and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and made everyone he came to know feel special and appreciated.
