TROPHY CLUB -- Joseph B. Miniatas, an aerospace engineer, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, surrounded by his family.

Service: A memorial Mass will commence at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville.

Memorials: Donations may be made in his name to TCU or Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville.

Joseph Miniatas was born March 21, 1937, in Lithuania. At the end of World War II, the family left to escape occupation by Communist Russia. He and his family moved to the U.S. in 1949. Joe graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in aeronautical engineering and worked for 40 years in the aerospace industry. He began his career in Grand Prairie at Ling-Temco-Vought. His last assignment was development of the radiator systems on the International Space Station.

In 1964, he married Sara Comito, and they were blessed with three wonderful children and seven beautiful grandchildren. Joe was respected for his ability to fix anything. He loved his family, his friends and his church. Besides his church, Joe was a member of the Lockheed Quarter Century Club.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Ona Miniatas, and brother, Jonas.

Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Sara Miniatas; son, Mark Miniatas (Cherlyn); daughters, Ann Rudd (Lance), Michele Richardson (Toby); grandchildren, Ben and Natalie Miniatas, Melissa and Marshall Rudd, Graham, Kayli and Ty Richardson; sisters, Ele Jasaitis, Birute Kasperavycius and Ona Alkas.
