Joe McCloskey died June 30, 2017 after a decade long struggle with diabetes, kidney and heart disease.



Joe was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 4, 1954 to James Thomas McCloskey, Jr. and Elizabeth (Betty) Cook McCloskey.



He attended Young Harris College and was a member of Kappa Tau Omega. Joe excelled in Sales during his lengthy career with Hardware Specialty. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, music, spending time with friends and family and cheering for his beloved hometown teams. Joe was a dedicated coach, board member, volunteer and mentor for numerous local youth and high school sports organizations including Norcross Soccer, Softball, Baseball, NYAA Football and Norcross High School. He was excited to support Peachtree Ridge high school this fall where his son will be coaching.



His strong faith sustained him as he continued to work through his medical challenges and he became an advocate for organ donation by supporting multiple organizations including the American Kidney Fund and Life Link.



He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Louise Hyde McCloskey, son James Joseph McCloskey, daughter Elizabeth McCloskey Goolsby (Oscar) and grandsons Mason James Goolsby and soon to arrive Jackson William Joseph Goolsby and his sister, Nancy McCloskey Packard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Thomas McCloskey, III.



A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5th at 2:00 pm at Simpsonwood United Methodist Church, 4500 Jones Bridge Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092 770.441.2181 simpsonwoodumc.org
