Joseph G. Ortiz, 41, passed away Tuesday, August, 8, 2017 at Journeycare Hospice in Glenview. He was born March 2, 1976 in Charleston, SC, was a graduate of Purdue University and Northern Illinois University with a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. Joe became a professional engineer and was employed for many years by the Army Corps of Engineers and NAVFAC.
Surviving are his Parents, Gilbert & Magylyn Ortiz of Vernon Hills; brother, Francis (Julia) Ortiz; Nieces, Violet & Clara Joe Ortiz; grandparents, Maxima & Rufino Ortiz; and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrea & Jim Eng, and by his uncle Dante Eng.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Mary of Vernon Church, 236 US-45, Indian Creek, IL 60061. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Visitation will be Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rte. 176 one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) Libertyville.
