Joseph J. Camp, Sr. of Hatboro passed away on May 15, 2017. He was 82. Joseph was the beloved husband of Virginia A. (nee Marriott) Camp with whom he had shared 64 years of marriage. He was born in Horsham, PA a son of the late Herbert F. and Amelia C. (Lieb) Camp. In addition to his wife Joseph is survived by three children Joseph J. Camp, Jr. and his wife Elaine, Jill L. Kohut and her husband Seth and Donald R. Camp and his wife Jennifer, nine Grandchildren, Stephanie Morace and her husband Matt, Julie Welsh and her husband Bob, Dana Nelson and his wife Jackie, Stacy Nelson and her significant other Ralph Hall, Andrea and Matt Kohut, Melissa, Thomas Camp and his wife Sarah, Jessica and her significant other Philip Bennink, nine Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two older infant brothers. Joe was a police officer with the Hatboro Police Department from 1962 to 1989. He served as Patrol officer and Sergeant. He was Police Chief from 1982 to 1989. He was a member of Lodge # 14 Fraternal Order of Police and National, Pennsylvania and Montgomery County Police Chiefs Association, where he was Treasurer for a time. He also was Deputy Chief of Horsham Fire Company and was a driver for Hatboro Fire Company. Joe really loved baseball and was an avid Phillies fan. When he was younger he played first base in American Legion Baseball and was scouted by the NY Yankees organization. He was proud of his family, and they remain proud of him. He was not afraid to love, nor to be loved. This was his priority in life and the main reason for his greatest success: his family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, May 20, 2017 in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro after 9:00 a.m. followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. His interment will be private.
